From the Desk of Pastor Matt

2Ti 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

There is a lot to be said in the church world about winning souls. Seminars, classes, books have been written, and ministries “specialize” in the subject of soul winning.

However, there is a prerequisite to soul winning. In order for someone to lead another to Christ, He must himself know Christ. He cannot carry just a mental knowledge, he must obtain a heart knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Spiritual regeneration precedes acceptable service in God’s plan.

If a man hasn’t bowed his knee before God in repentance, and experienced the mercy of our Lord and Savior, he will never be able to rightfully explain salvation to another man. He must know what it is to have warm tears from the sorrow of sin stain his cheeks. It is imperative for him to have cried out to God in prayer and forgiveness.

Paul said, “I know whom I have believed,”. Assurance of salvation is a condition of constant and successful soul winning. Doubt about one’s salvation will limit their power in leading others to the Cross and empty tomb. Great confidence in God and conviction of the Truth should characterize the testimony of the soul winner.
Paul’s efforts where reinforced by “Whom” he knew!
