…why feignest thou thyself to be another? (1 Kings 14:6)

The wicked Jeroboams wife practiced the art of camouflage! Her son was sick and she wanted help from the prophet of the Lord, the aging Ahijah. She was afraid the prophet would rebuke her for their wickedness and disobedience, so she tried to disguise herself. Even though the old prophet was blind, he saw what the Lord was trying to show him. Before she could practice her deception the prophet hearing her footsteps said, “Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? She was discovered!

Many people are like this woman! They too try to camouflage themselves and pretend to be something other than what the really are. Adam started the practice of camouflage when he tried to conceal his nakedness with aprons of fig leaves. Jacob practiced it when at the suggestion of his mother he impersonated his brother with the skins of goats on his hands and neck.
Abraham Lincoln is credited for saying, “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.” No one can deceive God any of the time! Camouflage is deception and hypocrisy.
A group of students in an eastern university sought to confuse their professor in biology. They took the body of a moth, used the legs of a grasshopper, the wings of a dragon fly, and the head of a locust. They presented it to the professor as if they found a rare find. When they asked him what sort of insect this was, he replied, “This is a humbug.”
Social media, texts, and conversations can make us appear to be spiritual, but God can see through the filters and facades. Be alert saints! Let’s be careful and watchful that we don’t let even a little leaven in. It ruins the whole lump! —MC
Let me never from Thee stray,
Make me humble, Lord, I pray:
Fill my soul with joy divine,
Keep me, Lord, Forever Thine —Anon
