Little Foxes

Published by Grace Church Admin on

“Take is the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines:for our vines have tender grapes.” (Song of Solomon 2:15)
Many people face great and mighty problems and victoriously overcome them. However, insignificant or things of little or no consequence can cause them to thaw or fail miserably. It seems that small task or “little jobs” or harder to stay at the large task. The same is evident in our spiritual lives.

A famous explorer in South Africa was made to turn back and abandon his exploration by an unlikely foe. He was equipped to meet wild beasts, servants, and crocodiles. He had bullets and got them ready for their attack. However, he was not prepared for the small army of chiggers that opened an all out assault on his person! His retreat was most humiliating. One man wrote about the chigger like this:

Here’s to the chigger,

the bug that’s no bigger

than the end of a very small pin;

 but the point that he raises

 itches like blazes,

and that’s where the rub comes in!

Let us watch for the little things that spoiled our testimony. You may be faithful in all the large commands of God’s word, but a “little fox” of attitude or folly could be stealing your fruit! Keep your heart free from the things that rob the presence of God. Anything that kills our affection towards God is sin!
